#FitnessJourney: New shoes makes the difference!

Hello everyone, Happy Wednesday!

Can you believe that we are already in August? Time flies like crazy!

IMG_3452Last week I was mentioning that I started to get some knee pains while running. When my calf started to seize, I said that’s enough! Over the weekend, I went I bought myself a nice pair of running shoes. I will agree that they are not cheap, but there’s no price when it comes to preventing injuries and it’s a lot cheaper than other types of sports, so we can’t complain. The good thing was that they were on sale this weekend, so I was able to save a little. Who cares about the brand new models when you can get last years for cheaper!

I used to want to buy the pretty color and good looking ones, but I learned over the years that the most important is the fit and how comfortable they are. It’s nice to be trendy, but sometimes you have to give up that idea in order to have a proper shoe.

I’ve run in my new shoes a few times now and I can feel the difference. I can feel less impact on my feet and knees.

This week, so far, we’ve been lucky weatherwise. I was able to do all my runs in between showers. I’ve run the longest thus far on Sunday (6 km). It’s not a lot, but it is slowly climbing up on time. I rather do this slowly than be in pain or hurt myself in the process.

Big or small, any accomplishments is worth talking about. 🙂

I also took a decision this week. I’ve decided to split my running and my weight training. I’ve decided to save in time in the evenings that I would go do my weight training at lunchtime every other day on a non-running day. I am lucky enough to have a gym at 5 mins walk from work.

Let see if this will help for the second goal which is losing weight. I will technically be doing something every single day of the week. Let’s hope I can keep this up!

Hopefully, the remainder of the week will be beautiful outside.

Enjoy your week, Cheers!
