Running Community & Considerate People

Happy Sunny Saturday everyone!

The beautiful sunshine and being alone in my thoughts brought me some inspirations. I would like to share with you my thoughts that went through my head during my morning run.

Running Community

Something I have learned on my running journey is that the running community is a totally different world.

When I saw this man waving at me on the other side of the road, it made me smile. This is part of my inspiration for writing this post.

Running is something you do on your own. It’s mostly a loner sport, but it isn’t at the same time. I would say that 90% of runners will wave or acknowledge you upon passing by you. We’re complete strangers and yet we feel part of a community.

I say it’s a different world because you don’t see this on our way to work. People don’t talk to each other, sometimes we don’t even look at each other.

Considerate People Still Exist!

Halfway into my run, I came across a street light normally I would need to stop, but this man in a van was considerate enough to let me pass before he continued on his way. I don’t know if it’s the same for you, but when I have to stop to a stop light, it is harder to get back into the groove. You lose your momentum. Some people don’t get this. So I feel grateful that this person lets me pass by without stopping. Very considerate.

  1. The running community is amazing! I am able to run so much because I have built up my endurance over the years (10 years of coaching and marathon training) I am also a fitness instructor who strength trains and cross trains and takes care of myself…thank you so much for commenting! Awesome blog! Have a great day girl!

    1. Thanks! Glad you enjoy my blog. Hopefully, I will get to a point that I will be able to run longer distances. I did a half-marathon in the past, but I guess sometimes you have to step back in order to get back up. 🙂
