Hello June!

Hello everyone,

Happy Friday and happy first day of June! I can’t believe it’s June already but I am also glad it is! This is the start of the summer for us here in Canada. No need for a jacket nor to wear long and bulky clothes.

People are already complaining that it’s too warm and humid. We have such a long and cold winter that we shouldn’t complain. We should be happy to finally be able to take some free vitamin D. 🙂

I want to take the opportunity to give you a little update on my fitness journey. This past 3 weeks, I have been concentrating more on my outdoor running and I think it’s time to be a little more realistic on my race goal.

As you may have read in my previous blog post. This coming Sunday is my 5 km race. 2 more days to go!

Doing a few test runs for 5 km, I came to the realization that my original goal of doing it in 29 mins may be over pushing it. I was hoping I could beat the time I did in 2012, but I, unfortunately, don’t think I can do that. That’s when you come to the realization that I’m not getting younger. The best time I did in my test runs was 32 mins and it happened only once in my 4 times doing it.

Of course, when you are under the adrenaline of the whole event, you sometimes do much better than what you do when you’re alone. SO I guess I’ll keep this as a surprise. Hoping I could at least do it between 29 and 31 mins. 🙂

It’s funny how even if I trained more this year than last year, I’m not doing better with the speed. The good in all this is that my cardio is much better. I don’t feel like my engine is running square. I don’t feel like I’m going to die as much. I will keep this as a positive and improvement to the whole journey. 🙂

Until then, I will have faith that I will be doing better than what my head is telling me I’ll do.
