Why is Disconnecting so Important? 

Hello, my friends,

Since I am in vacation mode right now, I thought it was the perfect timing to talk about why disconnecting is so important and why everyone should do it.

There are many ways to disconnect or make a reset. Did you know that you don’t have to be on vacation to be able to disconnect?

Incorporating an exercise regime into your daily life is a good way to reset. Doing it regularly will give you energy and refocus your thoughts during your activity. You don’t necessarily need to kill yourself at the gym, it could be a walk at a moderate to vigorous pace. PLUS, going outside and breath fresh air will do you so much good!

I recently started walking at lunch time and I find my day goes much smoother. It changes your mind and reset your brain for the afternoon.

Nowadays, with the social media and technology era, many people, including myself, are finding it hard to go without their phones. Reading through feeds making sure we don’t miss anything important from our friends. The digital world is taking a toll on all of us and without knowing it, creating more stress in our lives and losing touch on what truly matters and sometimes even losing our true self.

I find it important to leave anything technology behind for a few hours or days once in a while. That’s what I am doing this week. As soon as I am on board of the plane, I am closing my phone and will not reopen it until we land a week later. The only technology I will be using is my camera to take memories. 🙂

It is very grounding to not deal with any technology. Just be with yourself and your thoughts. When you come back, you feel so much refreshed and inspired!

Treat Yourself

It is also important to treat yourself sometimes. It could be as simple as getting a massage, a haircut or spoiling yourself to a nice latte. It allows you to take a break, relax and release negative thoughts. It always brings the feel good and happy emotions.

Why is it Important?

Disconnecting and taking time to reset is important for many reasons. It can help you refocus on the task at hand or on what is most important in life, reduce stress, help to refind yourself, help you think clearly, and much more!

Remember, you don’t have to be on vacation to allow you to disconnect. I am guilty of it myself, we don’t allow ourselves to take the time to do it and we all should find the time.

Take the time to breathe and reconnect with yourself!
