It’s been kinda slow at work today and one of my colleagues sent me this article which I found goes hand and hand with what I wrote yesterday about being ourselves as well as an older post about how technology is becoming a dependance.
This article is really good! It talks about the way people are putting themselves on the internet, losing the fun in their lives in the process and creating a fake life on social media.
Yes, we all want to share out fun and exciting experiences taking selfies and pictures of what we like and post them on Instagram or any other social media platforms. Something this article made me realized, is that we put so much efforts to take the perfect photograph, that we lose the moment and the fun about it.
People are putting their lives on the internet, but is it showing the truth? We all post nice and happy pictures, we don’t put the bad days on there. Are we true to ourselves?
I don’t think we need to go extreme and cut social media out of our lives altogether, but I think we should increase awareness and control the amount we share online and take the time to live and talk to the people instead of sharing and communicating via the internet. I don’t think there is anything wrong with sharing with others, but are we doing it the right way? Are we becoming self-obsessed narcists?
I won’t go on and on on this topic, but I would strongly suggest you read this article.
Very interesting. The article is called Our Fake Selves Will Kill Us All by Pete A. Nicholson
