The essential lesson I’ve learned in life is to just be yourself. Treasure the magnificent being that you are and recognize first and foremost you’re not here as a human being only. You’re a spiritual being having a human experience. – Wayne Dyer
The above quote inspired me to write about being ourselves…
It is so easy to lose yourself and to please others. Has humans, we want to be accepted by our peers and we strive to be appreciated by them. It is great at the beginning to be able to make others happy and like you, but after a while, you realize that it all starts to weight on you and you start being unhappy because you’ve been trying to be someone you’re not.
You have been working so hard to fit in, that you exhausted yourself and become someone you can’t even understand yourself and that you sometimes hate.
How can you be accepted by others
when you can’t accept “YOU” yourself?
It can take years to get to that point, but the day you realize that you have not been yourself is a pivotal moment. That’s when your perspective on your life changes. It is a challenging and a hard process. You may have changed yourself for so long that it has become hard to go back. It feels impossible and sometimes the only way to get out of the hole you’re in is to make a major change in your life.
The lesson that comes from this can change you. It can hurt you or it can help you grow stronger. I like to say it helps us getting stronger and become better individuals, but I am sure that there are people out there that will get hurt, that will develop the feeling of worthlessness, loneliness, sadness and come in a depressive state. We need to chose how we act on it. Everything can be changed and bad days are only temporary. We need to think positive. We need to be STRONG!
Maybe we do need to be alone to find ourselves… Maybe we do need to figure things out on our own first… Do what you love and be with people who will appreciate you as you are. You need to focus on you and what you want and find yourself and your focus.
Life will be much easier if you are your true self. There will always be haters no matter what we do. If they don’t let you in, that’s their loss.
Life is short, so enjoy it while being the real you. 🙂
Please note that I am no expert, but these are my thoughts. I believe that this is something that we all need to work on, including me. This post acts as a reminder to not forget who we truly are and do what we love.
