Stronger is the true story of the American author Jeff Bauman who has lost his legs in the Boston marathon bombing attack in 2013 while waiting in the crowd for his girlfriend to cross the finish line. The movie is based on his memoir he co-wrote with Bret Witter entitled Stronger, who was released on September 22, 2017. I will have to read it soon!
Jake Gyllenhaal did a great job performing Jeff in the movie. It was really moving and empowering. He was able to portrait the pain and suffering he was going through.
Suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, Jeff was really depressed. He was missing rehab appointments and hit rock bottom. When his girlfriend announced she was pregnant, he didn’t believe in himself and didn’t want anything to do with being a parent. She was really disappointed, upset and left him. This is the pivotal point that he came to the realization of what he has lost and started turn his life around.
He made a few appearances and empowered a lot of people.
The message in this movie:
Strength is within us all. Anything is possible when you put your mind to it. Some need to hit rock bottom and be forced to see the things as they are and only when that happens you realize what you have and regain your strength back.
Jeff is a true fighter and inspiration to all. I encourage to watch the movie.
