Hello everyone,
First, I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas! Hoping you enjoy time with your families and didn’t spend too much at the Boxing Day sales. 🙂
Today, I am combining day 8, 9 & 10 since I didn’t get the chance to write these past few days due to the holiday’s activities. 🙂
Day 8: Mistakes
What mistake did you make that later you realized you were grateful it occurred and why?
One of the mistakes I have made and a lot of people do it as well as giving too much of myself at work too soon. At my previous job, when I just started, I tried to prove myself to everyone. Everyone does this… I was working very hard and they were extremely happy. But it came to a point that it was expected of me and was no longer making me happy and I pushed myself almost to a burnout.
Was it worth it? Well, it made me feel good at the beginning, but at the end… it almost destroyed me…. so the lesson I have learned is that you don’t have to burn yourself till the bottom of the candle to do a good job. Do your job properly and make sure to keep a work-life balance. This is more important. So no it wasn’t worth it.
Day 9: Noticing and be thankful for little things
Gratitude means thankfulness, counting your blessings, noticing simple pleasures, and acknowledging everything that you receive. It means learning to live your life as if everything were a miracle, and being aware on a continuous basis of how much you’ve been given.
Therefore if you could name the number one item in your life that you are the most grateful for what would it be and how does it make your life easier?
Mine is silly, it’s my Fitbit watch. It might not be the number one, but each day I can’t go without it. It keeps me in check of the amount of activity I do in a day. I always try to do my 10000 steps per day. It’s not much, but it keeps me motivated.
Day 10: Heartbreaks
All of the heartbreaks have made you stronger. All of the lessons have made you wiser. Without these hard times, you wouldn’t have become a better person overall.
What lesson are you grateful to have learned and how did it make a difference in your life?
I’m the type of person that will trust people until they do something that makes me wonder. A broken promise is one of the heartbreaks I got to deal with a few times. What I learned from it is to never take anything for granted. People will say nice things to you to make you feel good and when the time comes it may not be what you expected. Thankfully, not every situation is like this, but for me, it made me realized that people you can trust are not in abundance.
